Ezra in the editor

Quick start

1. Open a presentation in the editor.
2. Click Ask Ezra in the speaker notes panel, or open the Ezra chat dock (sparkles button).
3. Type a request or click a suggestion chip (for example Improve this slide).
4. Review Ezra's proposal — click Apply or Skip.
5. For image generation, confirm you have AI credit; click Apply again if needed.

You should see Ezra's changes were applied after a successful update.

Deep dive

What Ezra does in the editor

Ezra is WorshipDeck's AI assistant for the presentation editor. It can:

• Improve slide text and layout suggestions
• Write or refine speaker notes
• Add slides from a topic you describe
• Generate slide background images
• Shorten text for readability on the projector
• Review deck readability

Ezra works on the current presentation — it does not replace the full editor. You always review proposals before they are applied.

This article covers Ezra inside the editor only. Global Ezra workspace features outside the editor are not documented here.

Entry points

Entry	Location
Ask Ezra	Speaker notes panel (desktop) or Notes sheet (phone)
Chat dock	Sparkles button — bottom-right of the workspace. On a phone it sits above the Slides / Insert / Notes bar. Opening the dock on a phone uses a full panel.

Ask Ezra in speaker notes pre-fills the chat with Write speaker notes for the current slide.

On desktop, when the Elements or Styling panel is open, the chat dock may appear inline under that panel instead of floating. When panels are closed, the dock floats over the workspace.

Chat interface

The chat header shows Ask Ezra about this deck with mode label Presentation editor.

• Type in the text area at the bottom
• Press Enter to send ( Shift+Enter for a new line)
• Click the send button or wait while Ezra is thinking…

Use the ⋮ menu for:

Item	Purpose
History and activity	View past Ezra activity for this conversation
Archive and start new	Clear the current chat and start fresh

Click Minimize to collapse the chat back to the sparkles button.

Suggestion chips

When the chat is new, quick-action chips appear:

Chip	Typical use
Improve this slide	Refine the active slide's content
Write speaker notes	Draft notes for the current slide
Add slides from a topic	Generate new slides from your description
Generate a slide image	Create a background or slide image (uses AI credit)
Shorten text for the projector	Trim verbose slide text
Review readability	Deck-wide readability suggestions

Chips send a pre-written prompt — you can edit the message before sending if you open the chat first.

Proposal flow

Ezra may respond with text only, or with a proposal — a structured set of changes to your deck.

Inline proposals

Small proposals appear as a card in the chat thread with:

• A summary of each change (add, update, or delete)
• Apply — accept the changes
• Skip — reject without applying
• Edit or Review — open the full review dialog to adjust before applying

Review dialog

Larger proposals open Confirm presentation update. You can:

• Review each operation (slide text, speaker notes, new slides, images, and more)
• Edit values before confirming
• Click Apply to accept or Skip to reject

After Apply, changes save to the presentation like any other edit.

Image generation and credits

Proposals that generate slide images use AI account credit.

If credit is unavailable, Ezra shows:

Image generation uses account credit. Add credit in Settings → Billing, then try Apply again.

Add credit under Billing. For AI spend caps and tagging settings, see Media AI.

While images generate, the apply button shows Generating image…

Edit session requirement

Ezra can only apply changes when you hold the presentation edit lock:

• Ask Ezra and chatting work while viewing
• Apply is disabled without an active edit session
• Error: You need edit access to apply Ezra's changes.

If another editor holds the lock, use Request access or coordinate with your team — see Presentation editor.

Context Ezra uses

Each request includes editor context:

• Active slide
• Selected elements (if any)
• All slides in the deck
• Presentation title, screen shape, and type

Select elements or switch slides before asking for targeted help. For example, select a text box before Shorten text for the projector.

Common errors

Ezra surfaces friendly messages for common failures:

Situation	What to do
AI credit required	Add credit in Billing
Quota exceeded	Wait or adjust limits in Usage limits
Edit locked	Request edit access or wait for the other editor
Presentation changed	Refresh and ask Ezra again — the proposal may be stale
Sign in again	Your session expired

If apply fails, Ezra posts an error message in the chat. Fix the underlying issue and try Apply again or send a new request.

What Ezra does not do

• Run present mode or control live outputs
• Edit worship song ChordPro source (use Worship songs)
• Change themes or backgrounds directly (ask for suggestions, then apply manually — see Themes, backgrounds, and audio)
• Replace manual insert tools for precise placement — see Insert content

Tips

• Select the slide or element you want Ezra to focus on before sending a message.
• Use Write speaker notes from the speaker notes panel for slide-specific drafts.
• Skip proposals you do not want — they will not change your deck.
• Use Review on larger proposals to edit text before applying.
• Archive and start new when switching to a different task so context stays focused.

[!note] Ezra proposals are suggestions, not auto-saves. Your deck does not change until you click Apply.

Troubleshooting

Apply is disabled or greyed out

• Confirm you hold the edit lock. Another tab or team member may have displaced your session.

Ezra is thinking forever

• Check your network connection. Refresh the page and try a shorter request.

Could not apply those changes

• The presentation may have changed since the proposal was created. Refresh, ask again, and apply the new proposal.

Image generation failed

• Verify AI credit in Billing. Retry Apply after adding credit.

Chat history is empty after archive

• Archive and start new clears the visible thread. Use History and activity to review past Ezra runs for this presentation.

Ezra chat does not open on mobile

• Tap the sparkles button to open the full-screen chat panel. Minimize returns you to the editor.

Changes affected the wrong slide

• Ezra uses the active slide at send time. Switch slides, re-select elements, and send a more specific request.
