Presenter views

Quick start

1. From presentation present or service present, find Presenter views in the bottom panel.
2. Click Open speaker notes or Open chord charts — each opens in a new browser tab.
3. Drag that tab to a podium monitor, tablet, or stage laptop (not the audience projector).
4. In present mode, click Start. The presenter view shows a Live badge and scrolls to the current slide as the operator advances.
5. For a full worship setlist, open presenter views from service present so charts follow song changes automatically.

You should now see notes or chords that stay in sync with the operator console.

Deep dive

Speaker notes vs chord charts

Speaker notes — full-deck notes for the preacher or speaker. Each slide section shows rich-text notes. The current slide is highlighted and scrolls into view while live.

Chord charts — full-deck lyrics with chords for the worship team. Built from the song's chord chart data. Only appears when the presentation has chords.

Both views are presenter views — for the stage or podium, not the audience. They never replace audience outputs.

Opening from present mode

In the bottom panel of present mode:

• Open speaker notes → /presentations/[id]/notes
• Open chord charts → /presentations/[id]/chords

When opened from service present, the URL includes ?serviceId=... so the view follows service item switches as well as slide changes.

Opening from the library

You can also open presenter views from the ⋮ menu on any presentation tile in Presentations:

• Speaker notes
• Chord charts

Library links do not include serviceId. Use these for rehearsal or single-deck presenting. For Sunday with a service setlist, always open from service present.

New tab workflow

Presenter views intentionally open in a new tab so you can:

1. Keep the operator console on your laptop.
2. Move the notes/chords tab to a second monitor facing the speaker or musicians.
3. Leave the tab open for the entire service.

The presenter view connects via realtime sync — no need to refresh when slides change.

Slide following

While the presentation or service is Live, the presenter view:

• Shows a red Live badge next to the title.
• Highlights the current slide section.
• Smooth-scrolls to keep the active slide centered.

When not live, speaker notes show all sections (with a "not live" message). Chord charts show all lyrics for rehearsal.

Service-following (?serviceId=)

When the URL includes ?serviceId=... (automatic when opened from service present):

• The view listens to service live sync, not just one presentation.
• When the operator switches service items, the page reloads content for the new presentation.
• Chord charts update to the current song; if the item has no chords, a waiting message appears until the next song.

Open from service present before Start so the serviceId is set from the beginning.

Speaker notes settings

The Display settings card lets you customize:

• Notes variant — which content variant's notes to show (when variants exist).
• Font size — small, medium, or large.
• Text, Background, and Highlight colors.
• Show current slide — optional slide preview panel while live.

Preferences save automatically to your account.

When not live, you can Edit speaker notes inline on any slide card and save changes back to the presentation.

Chord chart settings

Chord charts add transpose controls:

• Transpose key — change the displayed key without editing the song.
• Capo — set capo position for this song.

[!note] Capo and transpose settings are stored per presentation in your browser session, not as a global default. Each song remembers its own capo when you return to it in the same session.

Other settings match speaker notes: font size, text/chord/background/highlight colors, and optional slide preview.

Empty states

• No speaker notes on a slide — the card shows empty content; add notes in the editor or inline while not live.
• No chord chart for a service item — the chords view shows a message that the current item has no chart; it updates when the operator advances to a song with chords.
• Not live — both views show all content for review, without slide highlighting or auto-scroll.

Tips

• Open presenter views before the service starts and position the window on the podium device.
• For worship teams, open chord charts from service present every Sunday.
• Set capo per song during rehearsal — each presentation remembers its capo separately.
• Use Show current slide if the musician wants a small preview of what the congregation sees.
• Increase font size for dim stage lighting or older eyes.
• Keep the presenter view tab on the same browser profile as the operator if both run on one machine.

Troubleshooting

Notes or chords do not follow slide changes

• Confirm the operator clicked Start (live indicator is red).
• Refresh the presenter view tab if sync appears stuck.
• Check that you opened the view for the same presentation currently live.

Chord charts show the wrong song in a service

• Open chord charts from service present, not the presentation library.
• Confirm the URL includes ?serviceId=....
• If opened from the library, close the tab and re-open from service present.

Presenter view says "not live" during the service

• The operator may not have clicked Start yet.
• If presenting a single deck (not a service), open notes from that deck's present mode.

Capo resets between songs

• Capo is per-presentation, not global. Set capo again when switching to a new song, or set it during rehearsal for each deck.

I opened notes from the library during a service

• Library links lack serviceId and will not follow item switches. Close the tab and open from service present instead.
